2. Can I use any photo I want for my tile mural?

As long as you have the right to use the photo or image you can choose anything you like. By accepting our terms and conditions you are confirming that you do have the right to use your image. We reserve the right to ask for proof of ownership of an image (though this is unusual). This applies to pictures taken from any source including the internet, books and magazines. It is your responsibility to obtain the relevant copyright clearances.

3. What will the quality be like?

This depends on the quality of your image.  For best results send an image with at least 150 dpi (dots per inch). Please only send a scanned image or an image from your digital camera. Images found on the internet will not produce optimal results and may be copyright-protected. File formats of TIFF, PSD or JPEG are preferred.

4. How do I send my image to you?

You can upload it on our website mytilesmyhome.co.uk, send us a CD, send the image by email or send us a print out. If you send us a print out we will scan it for you though there will be a charge. Please send the print out with your name, address, phone number and email address clearly marked.

5. Where can I find a high-quality image to use?

We offer a huge range of high quality images at a reasonable price. There are also many photo libraries on the web. We can recommend one to you.

6. Why are your artist designs more expensive?

Because these artists are alive now and earning their living from their art and we believe it is only fair to pay them properly for the pleasure their work brings to us.

7. Can I have any size of tile?

We have a standard size range. If you require something else we will try our best to supply it. There are sometimes variations on standard sizes so please check that tile sizes match. Please call us to discuss.

8. What kind of tiles do you use?

We use tiles that have been specially coated for our process. They are available in gloss or matt finish. Normal commercially available tiles cannot be used.

9. Can I have any size mural?

Yes, these can be made in most sizes.  Each mural is unique. We will adapt to your requirements wherever possible.

10. Is it easy to lay the tile murals?

Yes, each tile is numbered on the back and we provide a layout guide showing you where each tile belongs.

11. What process is used to reproduce artwork and photographs onto tiles?

We have a special process called dye sublimation which uses heat and pressure to apply a 6 part dye onto a specially coated tile. As it cools and hardens, the dye is permanently absorbed into the tile. The dye should never wash or rub off.

12. Can I use the murals outside?

They are more suited for inside or in shaded areas outside. High UV exposure may cause colours to fade a little over time.

13. I am trying to match an existing colour shade in my home. Can it be matched?

It is impossible to guarantee an exact match for a number of reasons. Each monitor and printer interpret colour differently. Also, each person’s eye interprets colour slightly differently depending on the number of colour “cones” you possess. So trying to match a shade exactly is impossible.

14. Are there any special installation instructions?

Non-abrasive grouts should be used. Please ensure your tiler is informed.
